May 21st 2014!⃝I always thought it was about a long distance relationship, but the girl is cheating on him and he's 'settled for long distance calls' because he is in love with her and just wants to make things normal again. I think 'empty pillow talk' means they're having phone sex and there is just no feeling or connection anymore because she's so far away and seeing other men behind his back.
